"Until he extends the circle of compassion to all living things, man will not himself find peace." ~Albert Schweitzer

Second Chance Animal Center’s humane education programs are designed to encourage empathy, compassion and respect for animals, each other, and our world.

We are pleased to offer:

Free comprehensive humane education program for grades Pre-K through Twelve:

Through engaging lessons, hands on activities, and visits with animals, students explore such topics as responsible pet care, cruelty prevention, and how kindness matters in all relationships. Our curriculum provides students with a valuable learning experience that aims to extend beyond the parameters of the classroom.

Educational Youth Summer Camp:

At our popular summer camp, children learn the value of kindness and responsibility for all living things, and how to care for their pets whether furry, feathered or scaled! Field trips, special guests and afternoons on Lake Shaftsbury round out the fun. Full and partial scholarships are available.

Community Presentations

Presentations and workshops for your civic, private or church organization:

Receive free animal care advice, learn about our services, and find out ways to help animals in the community.

On-site Shelter Tours

Go behind the scenes and learn what it takes to run SCAC. Visit with some of our furry residents too!
