Invites you to our ride or walk for the animals

also known as the Dana L. Thompson Park

You can either do the metric century ride or a family loop ride on your bicycle. Or if walking is what you enjoy doing we have a 3-1/2 - 4 mile walk. Come ride or walk for the animals at Second Chance Animal Center, all proceeds to benefit the shelter.

**Metric Century Ride (63 miles) registration time 7:00 AM, start time 7:30 AM.
**In Between Ride (30-35 miles) registration time 8:30 AM, start time 9:00 AM
**Loop Ride Single & Families (15 miles) registration time 8:30 AM, start time 9:00 AM.
**Walk registration time is 9:30 AM, start time 10:00 AM.

Join us at the third annual Tour De Paws on July 13, 2008 at the Manchester Recreation Park in Manchester, VT. The metric century ride takes you on a scenic ride past beautiful pastures and over the rolling hills of Vermont, follow the paws marked on the road. The walk takes you through to the Riley Rink and back by way of the sidewalk through Manchester.

Registration Fee Schedule:

  • Metric Century Ride: $35 through July 5th, $40 Day of Ride
  • In Between Ride: $35, $40 Day of Ride
  • Loop Ride for Families: $50 for a family of 4, $25 single adult
  • Walk: $25 single adult, $40 for a family of 4
  • Guaranteed, specially designed Tour De Paws T-Shirt to all entrants who registered by June 10th. To register, click here, print out the Registration form, send a check and the form to: Second Chance Animal Center, P.O. Box 620, Shaftsbury, VT 05262.
  • Riders and walkers can sign up the day of the event, a limited number of T-shirts will be available the day of the race, to order an XXL T-shirt enclose $3.
  • After the ride enjoy complimentary food and drink for all registered riders. Purchasing lunch tickets for family / guests is highly recommend, limited tickets will be available the day of the ride. (Meal ticket $7.00 each, for children under 12 years $5.00 each). To register click here.
  • 28oz SCAC Tour de PAWS water bottle can be purchased the day of the event at $6.00 each.

Support
Pit stops will be throughout the metric century ride, and at the turning point of the loop ride and walk. Stops will furnish water, fruit and cookies.

A SAG vehicle will accompany the metric century ride route sweeping the loop ride at the end.

 

The day of the Tour de Paws you must sign in before you ride or walk. Metric Century riders will have numbers so we can keep track of all riders on the course; you must give your number at each pit stop. Loop riders and walkers must check in at the half-way pit stop. A SAG vehicle will follow on the Metric Century route, doing a final sweep of the Family Loop ride. All riders and walkers receive a scrumptious meal afterwards, please purchase extra meal tickets for those not riding or walking ahead of time.

No refunds (if it rains, dress accordingly) SCAC is a non-profit organization. We thank you for your tax deductible donation. For confirmation that your registration has been received, send a self-addressed, business size, stamped envelope. Allow at least ten working days after we receive your registration.

Rules for Cyclist

  • Riders MUST abide by all traffic laws.
  • Riders must ride single file and pass on the left ONLY.
  • Helmets (ANSI, SNELL or equivalent) are required for ALL riders. NO EXCEPTIONS
  • Absolutely no headphones or cell phone use while riding.
  • Children under 13 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult rider.
  • Riders are required to sign a release and indemnity agreement prior to departing on the ride.
  • Bicycles must be in good working order.
  • Riders must sign in at pit stops at the end of the ride to enable SAG volunteers to keep track of riders.
  • Final course sweep begins at 3:30 PM

Rules for Walkers

  • Walkers MUST abide by all traffic laws.
  • The walk is for people only, please bring your dog to the Walk N Wag fundraiser in October. (for details check SCAC website)
  • Children under 13 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
  • Walkers are required to sign a release and indemnity agreement prior to departing on the walk.
  • Walkers must sign in at the end of the walk.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Directions to ride and walk site by car: From Manchester, VT, at the junction of routes 30 & 7A, go west on route 30. Manchester Recreation Park is one mile on the right side of the road
